*Linux System Engineer* *Hoboken, NJ* *12+ month/ Contract* *Phone and In Person* *Must be USC, GC or EAD- GC* *Duties and Responsibilities* We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active *System/Operations Engineer *to join our team. The applicant must possess strong communications, troubleshooting and analytical skills. *System/Operations Engineer* The Engineer will be an integral member of the Production Support Group and is responsible creating and maintaining the availability of all the Client's applications running on *UNIX (Solaris) and Linux (Redhat) operating systems.*This includes non-production and production environments. This position will work with the Application Support Group, Product Mangers and BAU team to support the operations of critical Applications and Infrastructure. Additionally this individual performs root cause analysis of problems and proactively monitor and automate monitoring of critical components. *Responsibilities:* - Respond to incidents and requests via ticketing system. - Troubleshoot application and operating system issues. - Educate and mentor team members on Operations team. - Assist in production operations (code deployments, upgrades, patching) off hours and on a regular basis. Typically Friday evenings and Saturday mornings on occasion. - Participate in on call rotation. - Take ownership of projects and the delivery of documentation, monitoring and SOP manuals. - Work on high visibility automation efforts to improve efficiency. - Create technical diagrams and specifications to support system infrastructure design. - Evaluate and automate routine procedures. *REQUIRED SKILLS:* - Linux Engineer (7+ years experience). - Expert level Shell / Python scripting. - Ansible - Intermediate level. - Jenkins/Hudson - Knowledge building, configuring and maintaining. - Apache & Tomcat. - REST API - Understanding of JSON, HTML, Javascript. - Networking - Troubleshooting. - Storage - Understanding of SAN/NFS. - Willing to mentor other team members10-15 years experience working in a Project Management Office. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. *DESIRED SKILLS:* Knowledge/Experience of the following is extremely helpful: - Docker - Weblogic/WebSphere (or equivalent) - Splunk - JIRA - Aritfactory - ESRI ArcGIS *Qualifications and Education Requirements:* - Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or related field. - 7+ years of UNIX and Linux Administration experience (Solaris and RedHat preferred). - Strong communication skills (written and oral). - Ability to understand technical issues. - Strong experience with administering Oracle Weblogic (or equivalent). - Intermediate scripting (any combination of Perl, Ruby, BASH, Python, and others). - Understanding of proper industry change management procedures required. - Outstanding analytics and problem solving. - Excellent time management, project management and organizational skills. - Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience. - Experience with clustering, load balancing and HA. *DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
