Try a different mirror, I used http://cran-mirror.cs.uu.nl/. When you try apt-get update, you'll get a warning (that's better than an error ;) W: GPG error: http://cran-mirror.cs.uu.nl hardy/ Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY D67FC6EAE2A11821 To solve this, run: > gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv E2A11821 > gpg --export --armor E2A11821 | sudo apt-key add - apt-get update, and you should be able to install r-base (and any other packages you need).
