Dear R People:

Here is something strange. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 with R 2.9.0.

I need to have the rgl package. Here are my results from installing:

install.packages("rgl")
Warning in install.packages("rgl") :
  argument 'lib' is missing: using '/usr/local/lib/R/site-library'

So presumably there is not an X11. But when I put in "capabilities",
it seems to be there.

capabilities()
    jpeg png tiff tcltk X11 aqua http/ftp sockets
    TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE TRUE TRUE

    TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE

Has anyone run into this, please? What are the solutions, please?

Sounds as though you don't have the development libraries for X11, or perhaps the rgl configure script isn't finding them. Do you have libx11-dev installed?
