Yes! An enthusiastic vote for highlighting this fundamental distinction.
There is already quite enough conflation of these two very dissimilar
object classes.

If so, please make it an option with an argument like "show.class" or "print.fancy" that can be set globally in options. Otherwise those of us who depend upon the sparse displays of R objects in our functions (e.g. in the prettyR package) will suffer the results.
