I encountered the same problem.
My quick solution is:

        $ ./configure
        $ make (fails)
        $ cd src/main
        $ rm R.bin
        $ edit Makefile
        (uncomment the line 81: "R_bin_LDFLAGS = -export-dynamic")
        $ make
        $ cd ../..
        $ make
