You could look at http://www.r-project.org/GUI/projects/Editors.html for a list of text editors offering, at least, syntax highlighting of R code. For Mac (OS X), it seems you have the choice between SubEthaEdit, BlueFish and Jedit,... plus the code editor included in JGR (see: http://stats.math.uni-augsburg.de/JGR/).
