Did you build R by hand? The prebuild packages have working tcltk: deddelbuet...@....:~$ echo "capabilities()"|R --slave jpeg png tiff tcltk X11 aqua http/ftp sockets TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE TRUE TRUE libxml fifo cledit iconv NLS profmem cairo TRUE TRUE FALSE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE amd64, Ubuntu intrepid, Ubuntu R binaries from CRAN.
