A Research Associate in Ecological Statistics (Level A) will assist research developing fast, modern statistical methods for analysing high dimensional count data at large scales. The position will particularly focus on applications studying ecological communities, as well as developing flexible tools for handling missing data. The position will be a member of the Eco-Stats group, a team of researchers working under the supervision of Prof David Warton and Dr Jakub Stoklosa on diverse methodological problems arising in ecological statistics. This group is based in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW Sydney. Selection criteria: * A PhD (or soon to be awarded) in statistics or a related area (such as computer science, bioinformatics or computational biology). * Good knowledge of at least one of R and C++. * A sound knowledge of generalised linear modelling and mixed model extensions, linear algebra and multivariate analysis. Experience with parallel computing and big data desirable * Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
