Dear list, I have a shape file (~6000 polygons). The areas of the polygons in the shape file are really different, despite having be all of them designed to have similar population sizes. To perform posterior analyses using wavelets, I am interested in transforming these shape file in a cartogram shape file with (almost) equal density population in all of the resulting polygons. I wonder if somebody knows how we can solve this in R? Can anybody help?
