This is a basic spatial stats question , but I am hoping someone can point me towards the appropriate readings: How does one generate semivariograms of categorical variables when there are many levels? I am reading about a study that constructed semivariograms for maps of habitat type, comprising 33 different habitat type codes based on vegetation composition and structure, and am trying to reproduce their results.
