Hi Gisela,

        You can probably install it from source if you have Xcode
installed...you can download Xcode from Apple for free at
http://developer.apple.com/technologies/xcode.html .

        Then, try _install.packages("lme4", type="source")_. If that doesn't
work for whatever reason, you can either wait for the binary to appear or
install an earlier version.
