Hello R-SIG-PHYLO members Introduction to Spatial Data and R as a GIS led by Nick Bearman (University College London and Geospatial Training Solutions) is now available as an on-demand streaming seminar. This seminar introduces robust methods for analyzing and visualizing spatial data using R and RStudio, equipping researchers with advanced GIS capabilities within a familiar programming environment. Researchers in phylogenetics can apply these techniques to map species distributions, visualize ancestral ranges, or analyze the spatial context of evolutionary patterns, thereby enriching comparative studies. Mastering spatial data management and automated map generation in R will enable more sophisticated geographical analyses of phylogenetic trees and biodiversity patterns, saving valuable research time.
