Well, one thing's for sure, they need some sort of new business
model. Sadly, they've failed to figure out how to use the 'net to
their advantage. And if Spec Fic can't figure out how to do that,
who can? Or was their core problem that they didn't think commercially
enough and do whatever it took to both attract more readers and link
advertising to mass culture for greater profit/exposure? Yes, their
core
readership might find it crass, but hey, we're talking survival here.
In
any case, I think they are getting so small, its going to be very
hard to fix the problem, especially if the overall economic problems
drag
on. Nancy's right, this is depressing.
