I just googled "playboy fiction" and found this: http://www.hycyber.com/MYST/playboy_index.html, a list of their genre publications. They paid almost $1 a word according to The Market List. New Yorker rates! It seems to corroborate Jonathan's speculation: Garcia Marquez and LeGuin and Sturgeon and Ballard and Bellow and Bradbury all mixed together. But do they still publish spec fic?
I seem to recall that Omni was actually profitable, but like Realms the publisher thought that the resources could be used in another medium to be even more profitable and so they closed it down. cd --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "R-SPEC: The Rochester Speculative Literature Association" group.
