September's meeting will be in the usual time & place (first Tuesday, September 4, 7:00pm at Pittsford Barnes & Noble).
For September, we'll talk about the stories that are up for a Hugo award this year. In addition, and assuming they're in fit state to talk after the weekend, we'll be asking Ruhan Zhao and Alan Michaels for their impressions on ChiCon (and I think Alan will actually be at the Hugo banquet, so he can tell us about that as well). To add to the fun, I've prepared a little [ahem!] poll you can fill out before the meeting: http://r-spec.org/2012-09/2012-hugo-straw-ballot There's a lot of stuff here -- feel free to "vote" on whatever interests you, but I doubt we'll talk about anything beyond the actual creative works. (Maybe the 'editor' awards.) I've posted some links to the works in the sidebar. If you have other or better links, please post them in a comment under the poll so anyone reading the page can get to them. (But please make them legal links -- no scanned books or cracked ebooks.) If you have a particular story you'd like to "champion", let me know at the start of the meeting so we can be sure to allow time for it. I'm not going to put a deadline on the survey -- please feel free to use it to lodge post-aware protest votes if you don't like the way the awards turned out ;-). -- -- eric scoles | [email protected] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "R-SPEC: The Rochester Speculative Literature Association" group.
