Sarah, in your case I'd call it "sui genre". Defining a genre for your work is like trying to find a paper bag to hold an explosion.

I wonder if this is perilous. My only finished manuscript combines genres...listed as

epic fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy, horror, dystopia, supernatural and YA.

I would call mine "dark comedy," "mystery," "feminist urban fantasy." Hmmm. A feminist mystery fantasy, darkly comic, with some horror elements? Sheesh.
