R-SPEC members and friends, We had our annual meeting last night. The membership accepted our annual report, however there was an omission in that dues paid into the PayPal account was not included in the Treasurer's report. We'll send out a corrected version later today.
Our board is now: Janice Carello Craig DeLancey Alicia Henn David Henn Alan Michaels Jenny Moser-Jurling Eric Scoles Lynn Spitz Ruhan Zhao We will be holding elections at a board meeting in June for Officers. Ted Wenskus has also volunteered to be a Committee Chair, so he'll be helping us organize. Last night we had a spirited meeting lead by Wayne Brown on Magical Weapons systems and how to get them right. He urged us not to use swords as they have been used so extensively and we had a lively discussion about symbolism behind weapons used by male and female characters, both protagonists and antagonists. Wayne took us through the various materials used for magical weapons, the qualities that were important. Also, how weapons can become characters in their own right and sometimes run away with the story. Wayne also emphasized how important it was not make omnipotent weapons. There should always be a weak spot or a downside to its use. Awesome discussion with some new people joining in the fray!
