I thank the current SC for their efforts to accomodate concerns about  
fairness.

I support the idea of separating registration and voting. It is not a  
novel concept. I agree with Alan Bawden that it avoids the appearance  
that one's registration might be influenced by one's vote.

I acknowledge that it is an additional bureaucratic hurdle, and that  
some people will fail to register, perhaps because they forget or do  
not realize that it is necessary. However, even if the SC combines  
registration and voting into a single process, there will still be  
people who fail to vote. I think that's the nature of any process that  
involves people. It does not seem to me to be an undue burden.
