[Note: I've abstained from the r6 process because I no longer  
consider myself actively working on
scheme.  I have even abstained from voting either on r6 or the  
steering committee going forward.
I care about what happens, but as someone no longer actively working  
on it either as an implementor
or a regular user, my stake is smaller, and I defer to those with  
larger stakes.]

I find it really funny that people seriously suggest that we make the  
language compatible
with Azeri or Turkish when all the identifiers are in English, and  
the language is read/written top-to-bottom
left-to-right.

Unicode may have been the justification that people have used for  
inflicting case-sensitivity on
the language.

But the real reason is that some people have C/Java 'envy' and have  
always had case sensitive
implementations, and have been trying to foist this on the rest for  
ages (ever since R2RS).

Sorry to be so sarcastic, but I couldn't help myself here.
