[Note: I've abstained from the r6 process because I no longer consider myself actively working on scheme. I have even abstained from voting either on r6 or the steering committee going forward. I care about what happens, but as someone no longer actively working on it either as an implementor or a regular user, my stake is smaller, and I defer to those with larger stakes.]
I find it really funny that people seriously suggest that we make the language compatible with Azeri or Turkish when all the identifiers are in English, and the language is read/written top-to-bottom left-to-right. Unicode may have been the justification that people have used for inflicting case-sensitivity on the language. But the real reason is that some people have C/Java 'envy' and have always had case sensitive implementations, and have been trying to foist this on the rest for ages (ever since R2RS). Sorry to be so sarcastic, but I couldn't help myself here. _______________________________________________ r6rs-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.r6rs.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/r6rs-discuss
