What inconvenience? What lack of respect? It is a matter of a few minutes to write a bit of code to convert all your old code to lowercase symbols. You've already spent more time arguing about it than it would take you to accommodate the change. Regards, Jon PS: FWIW (essentially zero, but I'll say it anyway), I don't like case insensitivity because it causes people to type symbols in ALL CAPS.
