I tried to reproduce it as if I were a certain kind of student, 
the audience for which these libraries are intended. But, 
I got the setup wrong as Robby conjectured. 

The question is whether we should add similar comments to 
the documentation for files->lines etc:

'("first line" "" "third line")
> (file->lines "file2.txt")
'("first line" "" "third line")
