Not that you should change your system/plans, but attendees booking rooms at the hotel is actually part of what helps to pay for the event (because of the way the contracts between the event and the hotel works). In this case, I don't think there is any issue and RacketCon is, as far as I know, fine, but that may explain your experience. :)
