I've found my problem,

The IP in question was fetched by a authbysql hostselect, and contained a
single leading space!  This must have confused radiator into thinking it was
a host rather than an IP.

I've fixed the code at my end so that this cant happen again, but could you
also look at Radiator and get it to spit out a nice error message, at the
moment it just logs the error and exits.
