Thats a limitation in all squeezebox hardware players and also squeezeplay.
You can only enter an ip adress as the server adress. There is an ingnored enhancement req for that. If your isp can give you fixed ip your ok, or like my isp the IP is semi permanent they only change it when necessary, not daily or something stupid like that. Dont forget to port forward both 9000 tcp and 3483tcp/udp in your router. Why ? My theory is that *They* don't "want" to do it as squeezeboxserver is nothing close to secure, you punch a hole into your server from the internet. But thats up to the user imho, there have been discussions on a better more secure way to do this, I basically wants to eventually have a player at my Parents place . -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: SB3 (soon to replaced by a Touch :) It is on preorder) Bedroom/Office: Boom Kitchen: Receiver (soon to be replaced by my SB3 and the SBRto be stuffed in a box in the attic ) I use a Controller various ir-remotes and a Eee-PC with squeezeplay to controll this ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72197 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
