What format are you playing ? With any of the Flash stuff I find I must wait a few secs into playing the stream before FFW works because the duration info has not been received processed even though the stream starts playing.
Also I think, if you stop and then press play for a Flash/AAC stream the duration info is lost (it is provided in an earlier exchange with BBC) and so FFW/REW doesn't work.
