I let the 7.4.2-r8423 update install. I can reproduce the error still. Besides walking in and discovering the thing is once again lit, I can induce it:
Be listening, turn down the volume and then power off (the standby level, not full power down). If I do this before the volume display has disappeared (the screen hasn't gone back to Now Playing) I consistently get the backlight on at a count of 10.
