It's an inheritance from the old slim players thats does not have any internal resources to speak off they are very slim they don't even have a clock. In the begging there was no mysqueezebox.com either and the alarm function began it's life as a plugin . Boom introduced a realtime clock but it' alarm works the same as an SB2 or SB3 except for that it can remember the next alarm.
