The display on the Radio is fine. You simply need to set it to automatic brightness control (which is the default setting) and adjust the minimum brightness to your liking. The Radio has a light sensor and will adjust the LCD brightness according to the ambient light. The default minimum brightness setting might be a bit too bright at night.
