@DaveElson: I forgot to mention...when using SB server locally on Windows, the user/pass field on my Win 7 machine has always been empty, so this probably isn't an issue. Have you tried opening SB Server with elevated Admin rights? Despite being the admin of my machine, I have to open the program this way. You can try entering your mysqueezebox credentials in the web app that opens from the desktop server... that worked for me. (But not for the current "unable to connect" issue you and I are currently having.
