It won't communicate anything via WiFi if WiFi is not being used. If you look in your router's "connected devices" you will see your Radio listed once as "wired". If it was connected by both interfaces (wired and WiFi) you would see it listed twice (one wired, one WiFi). Relax and enjoy the tunes! :)
