Disabling and renabling a BBCiPLayer plugin will do nothing except perhaps lose all updates. Deleteing the cache.db file can help but only if you had a problem where BBCiplayer stops playing in a short timeframe (e.g. working yesterday not today). If there has been a long time interval (i.e. months), there is a good chance of a BBC change, a plugin update and you didn't notice.
