One reason I've not gone down this route is that we have 3 or 4 separate rings in the house due to extensions so that you can't get most rooms linked together. From an SB radio point of view at least 2 of the 4 are frequently unplugged and used on a battery so ethernet wouldn't be ideal, although it could potentially work for the others I guess (were it not for the aforementioned limitation).
