Hi Marty, My day job is at Bulletproof Networks - we specialise in hosting high availability sites (including Movember, Angus & Robertson and Whirlpool). We host almost exclusively on VMware, with full high availability, VMotion (for easy host maintenance), and SAN backing (we use one of the only SANs on the market with a 100% data availability guarantee).
We don't do a lot of Rails hosting, but we have a very switched on and helpful support team (no monkeys!) who are available via a 24x7 paging service (automated alerting and application monitoring, too). If you need configuration and scaling advice, that's part of my role - I'm our Senior Architect, and when I'm not working on our infrastructure I assist customers with thorny application performance, reliability and scaling issues. Our plans are at: http://www.bulletproof.net.au/Dedicated-Server-Hosting/Dedicated-Server-Products.aspx If you're interested, drop us a line via the website or via sa...@bulletproof.net with a CC to myself.
