Hey there Roroers, We are PLUS2, a small-but-fiesty rails shop, working on a mixture of client work and our own products.
Our apps are mostly Rails, but we don't shy away from any of Rack's children. We're based *in the cloud*, man. More specifically, our team of 5 top notch developers generally work from home, communing via Campfire, meeting face to face around once a fortnight at our office space in Surry Hills, Sydney. We're handling the hosting for most of the apps we write. We need to get serious about our apps' uptimes (YesMaster is the product we're working on to make this kind of hosting simpler). We'd like someone to help us with this: - to provide input to YesMaster - Ideally we'd like someone who understands the deployment space to help expand the product. A pair of (critical) eyes. - for support - we call this the 3am phone call retainer - Essentially, a retainer is paid each month to be available to react v.quickly if the apps go down (which they shouldn't and very rarely do) - The idea is if we're proactive with developing and maintaining the product there won't be 3am phone calls - Even if there are no emergencies, the retainer is paid Essentials we need from you: * Super reliablilty * Initially, be available to meet regularly at the office in Surry Hills. * Be easygoing and highly communicative. This is especially important due to the remote nature of the work. * Technical experience in the keeping-apps-going-on-a-VPS arena: * Know how to revive rack-on-passenger problems. * Know postgres and mysql. Good but lesser: * knowledge of the (automated) deployment space The level of the position is flexible, but you'll *need* to be able to step up when the 3am phone call comes. As mentioned above this role would pay a retainer on an ongoing basis, subject to a trial period to see whether we suit each other. To begin with it would kick off with the support aspect and expand into the developing the product. We have budget for approximately 16-24 hrs / month to begin with. As with all PLUS2 roles, we're happy for you to work from wherever you like. Feel free to contact us off list to discuss if you're interested. No recruiters please. :lachie http://plus2.com.au http://smartbomb.com.au http://www.flickr.com/photos/lachie/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
