FWIW I'm a Smalltalker and a Rubyist. I'd strongly recommend any Ruby developer that is looking to dabble in another language, to spend some time picking up Smalltalk, and to support the Redline project.
Smalltalk is the purest, liveliest, most accommodating and instructive OO language that I've had the pleasure to work in. I hope this project gets a lot of support, and I hope that I get to do Smalltalk again for a living in the future!
