Our business connects people who need help with their pets to trusted, local pet sitting, boarding and daycare. We are a two sided online marketplace that provides a network of friendly local HomeStays and Hosts who love looking after pets, with pet owners who are seeking an alternative to traditional kennels and boarding arrangements. We are reinventing pet care in Australia and have been called “the AirBnB for pets in Australia” in recent press coverage, and are similar to DogVacay or Rover.com As we are a small team, cultural fit and how the team works together is very important to us. We would initially like to offer a 3 month contract for 3-5 days a week, paid, as suits the developer, and if it all works out, we expect to offer the successful applicant a permanent role, including building out their own team and participating in an employee share/ option scheme. You will have the opportunity to have significant impact into the look, style, feel and back-end scalability of our business and work in a role where your creative and technical expertise will be valued. The role would be based at the leading Melbourne incubator, York Butter Factory, where you get to rub shoulders with other entrepreneurs, improve your network and build your start-up experience. Pay would be equivalent to $60k-80k pa with equity depending on skills & experience, and would increase as the business progresses. Passionate about building the best possible online experiences and can demonstrate this in previous work Our app is in Ruby on Rails, Heroku, Postgres, Bootstrap Proven API experience (particularly UI & backend libraries) Ideally, you will have a high level of empathy with pets, pet owners and the pet world in general (even if you don’t own a pet yourself) and are able to understand our core differentiators of providing insured pet care and services when people need it.
