The ruby world is very much into Mac. If you really want one, or want
something that works a bit easier and nicer then do that. I was a happy Mac
user for quite a while. I now prefer Linux but the benefits aren't really
ruby-related.

One potential benefit of Linux for the ruby dev is running docker/other
containers directly instead of inside a VM. I think my satisfaction with
Linux is based on my willingness and interest to spend time learning about
the OS.
