Flippa is looking to hire both Ruby and Front-End JavaScript/CSS developers to
join our growing team. We love people who love to learn and share what they
learn.
Currently we’re looking for people with at least 2 years experience, in the
mid-senior range.
Flippa is the world’s largest marketplace for buying and selling digital
property (websites, domain names and mobile apps). Born from SitePoint in 2009,
we continue to grow, building new features every week and improving our
existing platform based on user feedback.
Our development team is based in Collingwood, Melbourne, but we also have an
office in San Francisco and we have staff in countries across the globe.
We use Ruby—primarily Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript—a mix of Angular and
React—to build our core service and we have a growing number of services
written in other languages, such as Node. We are dedicated to automating
everything, including our infrastructure. DevOps is a shared responsibility
across the team and infrastructure is driven through code. Some technologies
we’re using right now are: Ruby, Varnish, Nginx, Docker, Elasticsearch,
AWS/CloudFormation, Angular, React, Redis, Sidekiq, Fluxible, WebPack. It’s an
exciting place to work and one in which you have the opportunity to experiment
and innovate.
Once every 3 months we take a couple of days out from regular business and get
together to hack on cool things proposed by our team, just for the fun of it.
Our office is shared by SitePoint, Learnable, Influx and PromisePay, so there
are plenty of technical people around to talk code with. We run “Dev Lunch”
sessions once every 2 weeks, in which we nom our way though many boxes of pizza
and anybody is invited to get up and present something they think the team
could find interesting.
We’re looking for the following:
Mid-Senior Ruby Developer:
* Familiarity with automated testing
* Database schema design
* Data analysis and reporting
* Experience with at least one other programming language preferred
* Some server admin experience
Mid-Senior Front-end Developer:
* Experience with Angular and/or React
* Good sense of UX and design
* Strong knowledge of CSS and CSS frameworks
* ES6
* Broad knowledge of the rapidly changing JavaScript landscape
Bonus points for:
* An active GitHub profile
* Experience with Flux
* Docker
* Elasticsearch experience
* Service Oriented Architecture experience
* AWS development experience
