OK. The best I could do with DOJO was 91Kb. Compared to the file I created at 49Kb.
 
I haven't actually tested the DOJO version to see if it broke, though. I would have to assume it's ok, since my source was pretty robust (I'd cleaned the originals up a bit first).
 
So there you go. Will keep fiddling to see what else I can achieve...

I just played around with it ages ago, the issue is probably fixed now.

So please report any successes -- also, a patch for the scriptaculous trunk to automatically 
create a compressed version when running rake would be a nice thing... :)
