John Madden was in Denver to announce a football game one weekend when he noticed a special phone near the Bronco's bench. He asked coach Shanahan what it was for and was told it was a hotline to God. Madden asked the coach if he could try it, figuring it was a joke. "Sure" said the coach but it will cost you $100. Madden figured he could bury the cost in his expense account so he said "OK" and paid the money. He asked for help in his game picks that week. Madden was perfect in his picks that week! The next weekend he was in Green Bay when he noticed the same kind of phone next to the Green Bay bench. He asked coach Holmgren about the phone and was again told it was a hotline to God and if he wanted to use it it would cost $100. This week there was no hestitation; he pulled out the $100. and again asked for help with his weekly game picks. Once again Madden was perfect in his picks. The next weekend he was in Dallas at Texas Stadium when he noticed the same phone next to coach Gailey at the end of the bench. He quickly asked the coach if it was a hotline to God. Coach Gailey said it was and if he wanted to use it it would cost 35�. Madden looked stunned and said it cost $100. in Denver and Green Bay. Coach Gailey said "yea, but in Texas its a local call.
