Shawn,
the autotools always confuse me. but:
----
bash timecapsule: {1010} autoreconf
configure.in: required file `./install-sh' not found
configure.in: required file `./missing' not found
doc/Makefile.am:20: required file `doc/texinfo.tex' not found
src/Makefile.am: required file `./depcomp' not found
autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1
bash timecapsule: {1011} Use "exit" to leave the shell.
bash timecapsule: {1011} which autoreconf
/sw/bin/autoreconf
bash timecapsule: {1012} autoreconf --version
autoreconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.60

this is what "fink" (a sort of unix-tool-add-on-package for macosx)
provides. as you can see, autoreconf didn't seem to do work, either.
sorry for the odd system.
