Tip of the Day: Performing UTF-8 File Encoding Without BOM (Byte-Order Mark)
Product.......: R:BASE X.5 and R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5)
Build.........: 10.5.4.20616 or higher
Sections......: Commands
Keywords......: FCONVERT, UTF-8, ANSI, File Encoding, BOM

Did you know that file encoding conversions to UTF-8 with BOM can now be performed?

The FCONVERT command has been enhanced to convert files to the UTF-8 without BOM (Byte-Order Mark) file encoding.

To do so, add the NONE keyword at the end of the FCONVERT command to specify the UTF-8 only file encoding.

FCONVERT ANSI CloudLog.csv TO UTF8 CloudLog_UTF8.csv NONE

The FCONVERT command is used to perform file encoding conversions between ANSI, UTF-8, UTF-8 BOM, Unicode, and Base64 files.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
