Tom, Copying a database on the network should not cause corruption. If it does, you have some network problems.
Netware 6, I whould check the Novell client on the workstations and get them updated. Make sure the direcotry you have the database in does not get compressed. Novell defaults to compressing files which you do NOT want to do on your production database. There are a few ways to turn it off. Try right clicking on the directory w/ file explorer and you should have a compression option. Turn it off. If that does not work go into NWadmin and dig down to that directory. I am using 6.5++(1.862xRT03) We are running nightly back ups with Backup Exec version 9. Since this happened we are getting some odd results. Previously I mentioned that we are getting what appears to be an error in a system table, most the descriptions for our tables, views and reports have become scrambled. Items appear with either the wrong description or with a message "#COM_ID=655..." (...=2 numbers). A couple list members graciously walked me through unloading and tracing the structure of our databases, and it didn't resolve anything. Now this weekend it seems that we have regressed to a former state and this has me pretty confused, I don't imagine it is an R:Base thing as I've not ever seen this before with it. BUT can someone help me put a finger on this please! Since January 1, 2003 we have changed about 1/4 of the people in our database (election cycle). Friday (3-28-03) we ran labels for commissioners and found that over 25 of the "removed" people were back and their replacements were gone. Additionally in another label run, the changes to about a dozen people and a couple of offices are undone and back to the pre-end of the year state. I have heard rumors that copying the database can "break" it, but I know nothing about this topic. I am building us a whole new creation in 7.0, But I need this version until I am finished. If anyone has had similar experiences, or if anyone has some clues that I can track down, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance Tom Eldred
