Your
R:base DSN needs to be a SYSTEM DSN and not a FILE DSN.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - File DSN problem
At a client's yesterday, I wanted to set up a File DSN to
a Win6.5++ database so that it can be accessed by Excel.
Used the ODBC installation from the original RBase CD.
I can set up a File DSN to a copy of the database located
on her hard drive (comes into Excel without a problem), but
creating an identical File DSN to the networked copy of
the database produces this error when configuring the DSN:
"A connection could not be made using the file data source
parameters entered."
Same database (just copied to the hard drive for the other
File DSN). They're running a legal multi-user installation.
Tried it on another workstation and same thing -- it reads
a local copy but cannot read a networked copy. Is there
something I missed?
Karen
