There is a number of memoryrelated issues when running DOS on on XP
I belive I have in the past run into the one you refer to and two others. I
keep my fingers crossed, but I am out of trouble. Problem is that that I
dont fully understand what I did to rectify the problem.
But a number of normally good thing to is :
#1. Files and buffers should be above 60
#2. Virtual file should be as high as possible (control panel, system)
#3. right clic the icon, properties, memory make sure the set all options to
auto.
#4. I also belive it is important that XP is installed clean that is not an
upgrade from 95,98,NT,2000.

Keep on trying I solved my issues by listening to list, even If I cant fully
explain how.

mne: [RBASE-L] - Insufficient memory to load protected mode R:Base

What should I look for to resolve this error?

6.5++ dos
XP Pro 1 GB ram
Novell network
R:base installed on server

icon has command line j:\rbti\rbdos65\rbase65 start
work in h:\oesys (this is where the database resides)

It will work if I have the user go to the command prompt and type orders.bat
the orders.bat file has:
H:
cd \oesys
rbase65 start
cd \
c:

However if I change the command line in the icon to c:\orders.bat I will
also get the insufficient memory.

Two other XP pro machines with 512 MB ram work with the icon as first
described. all I can say about this machine is that he has many more
devices connected and more software programs. But this shouldn't make a
difference, should it?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
