Jim,

It sounds to me like the combination of your symptoms indicates that you 
are periodically losing the connection to the network drive. That would 
explain both the lost connection to the database, and the STATICDB 
message. You probably have an RBASE.CFG file on the network that has 
the STATICDB setting to ON, but if R:Base cannot find that at startup, it will 
create a new blank one in the current directory, with a default value of 
STATICDB set to OFF. 

Sometimes it is as simple as a loose connection of a cable connector, or a 
bad NIC. Did any hardware get moved around when you reconfigured?
