Is that a "backslash" or a "pipe" character between exe and file?

I tried using the command launch Winword.exe\file.doc|W and it worked for me.  But launching the .doc command alone it does not work.

The command:

LAUNCH mergeletter.doc||W

DIALOG 'CLICK [YES] TO UPDATE LAST MAILING DATE' vres 1 NO CAPTION 'MAILING DATE!!' AT 10 27

    IF vres='YES' THEN

      RETURN

    ELSE

      RETURN

    ENDIF

The above does not work.

Benjamin, try this format:

"LAUNCH Word.exe|mergeletter.doc|W"

Alastair.

I have discovered on my machine that the "Launch ' '||W" works with an .exe, .txt and .pdf files, but when I launch a .doc file the wait does not work.

I tried and look at the "From The Edge" documents but that Dialog box still

appears when the Word document pulls up.

Benjamin,

In that case, take a look at the article on From The Edge!

 From The Edge: http://www.razzak.com/fte

(Powered by R:WEB Suite)

Search Topic Header | LAUNCH | Search ...

For further testing, you may also try the same scenario

using the built-in action in R:BASE 7.1 for Windows.

Here's how:

01. Start RBG 7.1

02. From the Main Window, click on Tools

03. Select Launch...

04. Enter File Name.. Parameters.. and click on Wait Until

     Finished CheckBox.

05. Click on [Launch]

Enjoy and make sure to have fun!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.

P.S.

If you need further help, post it on exclusive RBG7-L list.
