Okay, I compared the RBCONFIG settings and now I must say, Mister Bill_D, you warned me about this a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

SET IDQUOTES=`
SET QUOTES='

and, voila, it worked!

As Bill suggested and Razzak is quick to remind us, it pays (at least sometimes) to stay current.

Thanks,

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Pulling Data from RBWIN6.5++ to Excel via ODBC ...

Y'all, I'm having some trouble getting data into Excel from RBWIN6.5++ (XP Pro & Excel 2003) via ODBC.

I go :

   Data|Import External Data|New Database Query

then in the Excel "Choose Data Source" dialog :

   Select the RB database, [OK]

and in the "R:BASE Connect" dialog :

[OK]  //I don't have any database security in effect

Then I get this err_msg dialog :

"This data source contains no visible tables.", [OK]

Then the Excel "Query Wizard - Choose Columns" dialog appears, but it shows nothing in the "Available tables and columns" listbox.

However, when I choose CONCOMP, rather than one of my own databases, the tables and columns are visible and I can execute the query, populating the worksheet.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve in Memphis
