John:  Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I will forward the explanation to them and try 
to convince them that it's worth the installation
time (ie, time $$) for them to set this up on
all the workstations.

Sorry, I was just hoping that the DLL resided
in the database directory on the server and
would require just one setup routine.  I understand
now how it would need to interface directly with
the workstation that's sending the email.  I just
find it hard to believe that huge companies, which
typically put software only on a server to avoid
installing on hundreds of individual computers,
would be excited about the prospect of setting
this up on each workstation!
