R:Magellan would work but he would need to upgrade to version 7.1 for
windows or 7.6 (7.6 is the latest and greatest).
Then he can just bring up a customer, click on the button that uses
R:Magellan and it will give him the route, mileage, and cost (he would also
need Microsoft's MapPoint).
Then you can charge him for the programming to upgrade from dos to windows,
so he can join the 21st century.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Maps and Data
Hi all,
A customer wants me to re-write a jobs/route/invoicing package (he's been
using an RB 2.11 app for 15 years).
As he was specking it out, all was well until he said, "and with all the
mapping applications out there it should be pretty easy for me to
highlight an area and have all the customers in that area assigned to a
route, right?". He wasn't laughing with me so I have to assume he was
serious <g>.
Does anyone have any idea how this might be done?
Thanks,
Ben
